Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has vowed
to weed out traditional rulers in the state who are engaged in partisan
politics.
Governor Wike who stated
this when he declared open the quarterly meeting of traditional rulers'
council in Port Harcourt, charged them to work towards the development of their
domain and the state at large.
Governor Wike also
advised them to use their position to persuade youths in their domain to
embrace the ongoing amnesty programme to avoid the wrath of the law.
In his welcome address,
Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council and Amanyanabo of Opobo, King
Dandeson Douglas-Jaja, commended the state government for success recorded in
curbing crime in the state.
King Douglas-Jaja also
called for intensified effort to
eliminate of hard drugs in the society.
