Sunshine Stars in street protest over salary

After a great performance away to Abia Warriors FC where they snatched a draw and a point in Umuahia in the midweek fixtures of the NPFL, players and officials of Sunshine Stars returned to their Akure base only to embark on a demonstration over the non payment of their salaries, arrears and other entitlements.

Sportstalkafrica.com correspondent in Akure reports that the players took to the street at about 11am on Friday morning and were seen marching to the Ondo State Govenment House, Akure, at about 12 noon to stage a sit in.
Information reaching us indicate that the players and officials are owed a backlog of about five months salary with other entitlements.
Efforts to contact officials of the club and the Ondo State Governmnet have proved abortive as the officials are involved in handling the situation on ground.
