Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has been chosen to officiate the Africa Cup of Nations final between Cameroon and Egypt on Sunday.

Sikazwe, 37, was nominated for the 2015 CAF Referee of the Year award. He had officiated Egypt’s away match against Nigeria last March in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
During the 2017 AFCON, he officiated Cameroon’s match against Burkina Faso in the group stage, which ended in a 1-1 draw, as well as their quarter-final clash with Senegal, which saw the Indomitable Lions win 5-4 on penalties.
He had refereed the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup final between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers in December, when he was in the center of controversy, as he appeared to reach into his pocket to book Sergio Ramos for a second time before changing his mind.
The tournament’s final is scheduled to take place in Gabon’s capital Libreville at 21:00 CLT (19:00 GMT). The Pharaohs will be looking to win a record extending eighth title while Cameroon will be chasing their fifth AFCON title.
