Boy of 6 killed and dad critically injured as police fire at car during chase

A six-year-old boy was killed and his father was critically wounded after police opened fired on their car as the dad attempted to escape being served a warrant.

Chris Few and his son Jeremy Mardis were shot at 9.30pm on Tuesday in the city of Marksville, Louisiana.

The schoolboy, thought not to have been seen officers, died from multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest.

Few was yesterday listed in serious condition, according to hospital officials.

Coroner Dr. L. J. Bayeux said Few reached a dead end and was backing into the marshals when they fired and the boy was "caught in the line of fire" and was killed.
