The National Youth
Council of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to issue more
operational license to indigenous companies to operate in the nation’s oil and
gas sector.
Chairman of the Youth
Council in Rivers State, Ambassador Sukubo Saraigbe who stated this in Port
Harcourt said with more indigenous companies in the sector, more people from
the oil producing communities will be employed and the current spate of
destruction of oil installations in the
Niger-Delta region will be reduced.
The youth leader also
commended the recent employment opportunities granted to over five hundred and
twenty youths from some of the oil bearing communities in Akuku Toru Local
Government Area of Rivers State by an indigenous oil exploration company in the
area.
Ambassador Sukubo while
urging youths of the state to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for multinational
companies to operate applauded the indigenous company for employing the youths
at the time when the sector was experiencing massive lay off of workers.
