RIVERS STATE GETS MISS GOLDEN JUBILEE


Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike  has called on the contestants of the Rivers State Golden Jubilee Beauty Pageant to ensure that they develop  themselves  to  contribute  to  the growth  of the state and the country.

He spoke in the early hours of Saturday morning  after the conclusion of the Rivers Golden Jubilee Beauty Pageant which witnessed  Miss Charity Ogwutum  (Miss Obio/Akpor) emerge as Miss Rivers Golden Jubilee.
Other winners include: Miss Chinenye Akaya  ( Miss Oyigbo) First Runner-up, Miss Vivian Briggs  (Miss Akuku-Toru), Second Runner-up, Miss Benibo Joseph  (Miss Degema) Third Runner-up and Miss Elizabeth Nyedah  ( Miss Gokana), Fourth Runner-up.

Governor Wike said all the 23 participants at the Beauty  pageant  are winners as they will promote the state as worthy ambassadors.

He encouraged  them to be steadfast in their  pursuit  of greatness, noting that the state government  will support  their  education.

While commending  the  Management of Belema Oil for awarding international scholarship  to the 12 contestants  who are school certificate  holders, Governor Wike  announced international scholarships  for the 11 other contestants with degrees.
"I want these  contestants  to pursue  greatness.  I want you  to pursue  academic  greatness.  After this  event, don't move from office to office, under the guise of a non governmental organisation ", he said.

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike said that the Beauty Pageant  brought out the best in Rivers women.

She said  that all the contestants exhibited intelligence  in addition  to their beauty, adding that  they represent the bright future  of the state.

"I am proud  to be a Rivers woman. We have everything that a man wants in a woman . These are very confident women who are sure of themselves ", the wife of the governor said.

Famous Nigerian Musician, Omawunmi  thrilled  guests at the event, while the interactive session  with  the  contestants  was exciting.

Rivers born comedians and dancers  performed at the historic  event.

Highpoint of the Beauty pageant was the crowning of  Miss Charity Ogwutum  (Miss Obio/Akpor)  as Miss Rivers Golden Jubilee.
