The State and Local Government Contributory
Pension Scheme Board Jigawa State has paid over N150 million as
entitlements to 109 retired civil servants and those that died on active
service.
The executive secretary of the board, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, revealed this in an interview with newsmen in Dutse.
He explained that 74 of them were those that had retired from service, while 35 were relatives of those that died in active service.
The executive secretary said that the payment exercise was for the month of September and was done between 21 and 23 of the month.
According to him heirs were invited and screened by the board to ensure that they were the genuine relatives of the deceased staff.
Adamu added that the state had one of the best pension policies in the country because it has a system of paying civil servants their entitlements every month. He revealed that monthly pensions are paid between 11-13 of every month. “ We are not holding people’s money when ever it is due for payment.
“The board is up-to-date in the payment of monthly pension allowances to all retired civil servants across the state,” he added.
He said that the scheme did not cover only state and local government staff but also those that worked with the local government education authority.
