The 34-year-old, a nephew of former crime kingpin Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch, was ambushed in a broad daylight hit in an apartment complex in Miraflores according to sources.
Hutch was shot three times at 11.30am as he returned from an early morning run near the swimming pool, the Irish Mirror reports.
The criminal, who has links to the Kinahan drug mob, dodged a bullet last year when he was the intended target of a shooting that injured innocent boxing pundit Jamie Moore.
A source said: “Gary has had near misses before but this time he couldn't get away.”
It’s believed the gunman had lain in wait for Hutch at the apartment complex where he lived in the Miraflores resort.
Hutch’s father Patsy and their extended family were believed to be gathering in their Dublin home tonight. It is understood that they had been trying to phone Gary Hutch but could not get hold of him. Investigations are ongoing but officers believe that the hit is linked to a long-running feud on the Costa del Sol involving the notorious Kinahan mob.
