A twenty four minutes goal scored by
Michael Olaha of Abia Warriors was enough to settle a scrappy Nigeria Professional
Football League contest between Abia Warriors and Rivers United on Sunday at
the Umuahia Township stadium.
The Warriors won 1-0 in a game that
promised so much but delivered so little as a result of heavy rains which
rendered the pitch almost unplayable.
The hosts would have doubled
their lead in the final minute of added time after Rivers United conceded a
penalty with captain, Austin Festus handling the ball in the box.
With the defeat, Rivers United now occupies the
sixth position on the league table with 28 points from 17 matches while Abia
Warriors Football club moves to the second position on the league table with 30
points from 16 matches.
