Rivers State on Food Poisoning



A Health Expert in Port Harcourt, Dr. Ken Wariso has called for regular inspection of eateries by health officers to ensure standard hygiene is maintained.

Dr. Wariso of the Department of Medical Micro Biology, University of Port  Harcourt, in an interview with Correspondent Blessing Ituma lamented the extent of carelessness and nonchalant attitude of some eateries in handling foods which sometimes result in food poisoning.

He said foods were susceptible to contamination when poorly managed and could lead to diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps
The Health Expert also called on members of the public to be cautious of canned foods they consume with keen attention on the expiration and on food items they purchase from the market.
Dr. Wariso warned against consumption of processed foods with preservatives.
