Crime in the State

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has attributed the current cult activities to the fight for supremacy amongst rivalry groups who are seeking recognition from oil companies operating in the state.

Governor Wike stated this when he received the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright at Government House.

The Governor stressed that the present administration has put all necessary machinery to curb the spate of cultism and violence in the state.
The Governor told the British High Commissioner that the state is ready to partner with United Kingdom in finding lasting solution to the menace.

Earlier, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright said visit to the state was to support the governor's agenda of development for the people of the state.
