Urban Guard to check Illegal Trading in Port Harcourt City And its Environs.


The Commissioner for Urban Development and Physical Planning, Honourable Chinyere Igwe has inaugurated Urban Guards to check illegal trading, markets and Motor Parks in Port Harcourt City and its environs.


The Commissioner while the inaugurating the Guards comprising of forty-two units with at least ten persons per unit in Port Harcourt, charged them to be proactive in the discharge of their duties.


Mr. Igwe warned the Guards not to collect any money from illegal operators in the course of their service maintaining that anyone caught in the act would face the wrath of the law and have his duty withdrawn.


He enjoined them to make use of the Ministry’s hot lines and concentrate more on arrest rather than seize goods.



The Urban Commissioner called on all illegal traders and violators of building plan to desist forthwith and use the conventional markets and motor parks stating that the State Government would no longer take it lightly with defaulters.
