KILLINGS IN THE STATE

Residents of Aluu and Omagwa communities in Ikwere Local Government area of Rivers State are fleeing their homes after about twenty three persons were killed in attacks by suspected cultists over the weekend.

A brother of one of the victims of the attack in Omuihuechi Aluu, Mr. Benson Clement  told Treasure FM that his nineteen year old cousin, Justice Amos was shot dead along with two of his friends while they were watching a match at a viewing centre.
Mr. Clement decried the slow response of security personnel to the attacks that resulted in the death of five of his close friends and relatives.
He lamented the failure of security agencies to provide adequate security for the affected communities after the Friday’s attack and threat by the perpetrators to attack the remaining communities in Aluu clan.
The reason for the attacks is not yet known but reports say that six communities in Aluu have already been attacked by the hoodlums and residents of the entire area live in fear for their lives.
The Rivers State Police is yet to comment on the attack.
