Repentant cultists in
Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of Rivers State have called on
tanker drivers and other business owners around the Ahoada axis of the
East-West Road who left as a result of the criminal activities in the area to
return.
Leader of the one of
the ex cult groups, Mr. Joseph Ezenwoke popularly known as “Kumasi” made the call while
surrendering his arms to the Rivers State Amnesty Committee at Okogbe in Ahoada
East Local Government Area.
He said the call became
necessary as the presence of business owners in the town brought empowerment
and employment to youths of the area.
Another former cult
leader, Progress Dickson popularly known as Kabaka commended the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike for bring
peace to the area through the amnesty programme.
The former cult leader
assured the companies operating in the area of a peaceful atmosphere for business
activities.
Meanwhile the
traditional ruler of Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality Eze Robinson O. Robison has
thrown his weight behind the amnesty programme of the
state government.
The Eze Ekpeye Logbo who made this known while
playing host to the State Amnesty Committee at his palace, called on all the
cult groups across Ekpeye land and the state at large to accept the magnanimity
of the State Government for sustainable development of the area.
