Ash Groove Academy which is the
foundation school of the University of Port Harcourt has alerted applicants and
the general public to the existence of fraudsters using the internet to defraud
unsuspecting persons.
The academy prepares candidates for
the Cambridge, A-level and direct entry into Nigerian University through the
Joint Universities Preliminary examination board, JUPEB.
A statement by the Acting Director of
the College of Continuing Education, CCE, University of Port Harcourt, Dr.
Kiikpoye Aaron, said an Ilorin based fraudster who claims to operate from
University road Tanke, Oke-Odo has set up a website asking applicant to pay
between two hundred and forty thousand and two hundred and eighty thousand
naira for placement into five JUPEB center, including the University of Port
Harcourt.
Dr Aaron said JUPEB conducts
examinations but does not collect fees on behalf of participating Universities.
He advised the public to confirm fee
payment information on Ash-Grove Academy from the University of Port Harcourt
as neither JUPEB, nor University of Port Harcourt has appointed any person as
its fee collection agents.
Meanwhile the closing date for the
submission of application forms into Ash-grove academy has been extended to 21st
October 2016, while screening text for applicant will hold on 22nd
of October 2016.
The statement added that sale of form
is also ongoing into part time degree programme of the University of Port
Harcourt.
