Rivers Angels were
crowned champions of the women’s federation cup competition.
The Angels defeated
neighbors Bayelsa Queens 5-3 on penalties after full time score ended 1-1.
Rafiat Sule put Bayelsa Queens ahead, but Rivers
Angels equalized through a well –taken free kick by Osinachi Ohale.
Coach of Rivers Angels Edwin Okon attributed the
victory to hard work.
On his part, Coach of Bayelsa Queens, Rolandson Odeh
was disappointed with the loss.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Commissioner of Sport, Mr.
Boma Iyaye has congratulated Rivers Angels Sports Club of Port Harcourt for
emerging champions of the 2016 Federation Cup.
An elated Iyaye said the girls displayed the
‘traditional Rivers spirit’ as they won a tense game against the Yenagoa-based
side.
