The lawmakers of the Assembly who passed the bill after examining its various clauses, noted that when sign into law, it would encourage people to put in the best in service of the state.
However, some of the lawmakers including Mr. Michael Chinda and Victoria Nyeche, noted that certain provisions of the bill should be amended for its effectiveness.
When the Speaker, Mr. Ikuinyi Ibani called for vote, thirteen of lawmakers voted for the bill to be passed.
The Rivers state Honours bill 2017 is to repel the Rivers state Awards Law 2000.
Also at plenary, the member representing Etche constituency two, Mr. Tony Ojuogbu, was sworn in as a member of the Assembly.
Mr. Ojuogbu emerged victorious under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the supplementary election held in Etche local government area of the state.
