LATEST ON TAI ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; Rivers State, has maintained its ground that the result of Tai Local Government election in the March 19 rerun election remains valid.

In an interview, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak said the law does not allow the commission to cancel any election that had been done at the polling units.

Mr. Ikoiwak however admitted that INEC in Rivers State initially suspended the election in Tai L.G.A; but said the ratification of the Tai election by INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Operation, Mrs. Amina Zakari, was lawful.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State further explained that the Commission is always neutral in its action.
