Enugu Rangers have returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after they beat Sunshine Stars 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

The hosts took the lead in the 8th minute, when Bobby Clement forced the ball in. Dele Olorundare’s penalty was saved by Nana Bonsu, as Sunshine missed an opportunity to

equalize, before Clement claimed his double four minutes after the restart.
Imama Amapakabo’s men now have 57 points, one more than second-placed Rivers United, who lost 1-0 to Wikki Tourists in Bauchi. The hosts moved into third place as a result.

Rangers are now getting ever closer, to winning the NPFL title for the first time in 32 years.
Shooting Stars are still in a relegation battle, after they lost 1-0 to Warri Wolves at the Warri City Stadium. The Oluyole Warriors did not train all week, as they protested non-payment of their five months salaries and bonuses.

Lobi Stars claimed a 2-1 win over IfeanyiUbah FC, champions Enyimba were held to a 0-0 draw by MFM FC and Abia Warriors ended their six-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United.
