During the exercise which was witnessed by a large turnout of people at the Assembly complex, the nominees were subjected to questions bordering on security, payment of salaries and environmental issues.
Speaking after the screening, chairman of the House committee on Local government, Mr. Kelechi Nwogu warned that it was no longer going to be business as usual, as the committee was poised to ensure effective monitoring of activities at the various councils.
Mr. Nwogu emphasized that the monitoring is to ensure that the caretaker committee chairmen carry out their functions in line with laid down rules.
The House also passed the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Amendment bill 2016.
The amendment bill provides for the extension of the retirement age for professors at the university from sixty five to seventy years, while non academic staff would retire at sixty five years instead of sixty years as stipulated in the principal law establishing the institution.
